Artful Creations Inspired by Ideas

Welcome  to Zoetic Arts. We offer beautiful creations in art glass and other media, inspired by the ideas and principles of organic design. These creations will enliven any room with color, reflection, and beauty. Windows, cabinet doors, mobiles, garden stepping stones...the possibilities are limitless.

All of our items are designed -- and handcrafted -- by noted architect Michael Hawker, and are architectural, or nature abstracted, in theme. Every design explores various color and geometric pattern and is handcrafted with care and quality to become a unique work of signature art.

Michael Hawker was influenced by, and is carrying forward the tradition of, the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright who was well-known for his art glass designs, and integration of all the allied arts, into his buildings.

Look for other crafts too! We provide graphic design services for anything requiring that creative flair, a logo, a newsletter or advertisement, publications of all types. We explore the creative in furniture and accessories as well with the same attention to detail as our glass and graphic projects.

Our artwork and crafts are sold at shows and fairs, select retail shops, through our own catalog, or simply by contacting us.

Graphic design and customized art/craft pieces are provided as a service and are available on a per project contract basis.

      What is Beauty?

      Beauty

Beauty consists in a certain naturalness – in exuberance – is a being in itself.

Beauty of form is always from within outward – the imitative of outward countenance

cannot live as the original lives because the light of the idea

is within shines afresh only from the original.

Beauty is a state of being wherein all is of never on and proceeds as the inevitable

from general to particulars – there is no confusion – its simplicity is not

merely plain but is often as delicately and completely

from within as any wild flower or noble tree.

By no contrivances can the inspiration be had that reveals Beauty at its source.

Only by being can being be perceived.

Only by feeling can knowledge of Beauty be made to appear.

Only by way of Love can either of these happen.

Frank Lloyd Wright excerpts on “Beauty”, June 1950.

      Beauty in many forms

      About Zoetic Arts

      The inspiration

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, for over ten years now, Zoetic Arts was originally founded in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2004 by noted architect Michael Hawker.  Perhaps following in the footsteps of Frank Lloyd Wright and acclaimed  St. Louis architect William Adair Bernoudy -- both known for their stained glass designs -- Michael began designing art glass signatures into his buildings even before Zoetic Arts was established. His first commission was in 1997 ("Lotus" window panel shown at left).

      And so it began...

After inheriting his grandfather's glass tools and learning the craft, Michael began creating. Starting with  candleholders, mobiles (one shown at right) and suncatchers as gifts, he expanded his repertoire to  include a number of items. These items became sought after and are now in high demand. Zoetic Arts was then established in order to make these  beautiful designs more widely available.

      Personally crafted by Michael

All the products offered are personally designed and handcrafted by  Michael Hawker (shown at  left) and Zoetic Arts artists and reflect a philosophy based on  organic and natural design principles. A holistic idea inspires and  explores architectural, spatial, and pure geometric in each art  glass design. Also, each strives to express spatial and structural  continuity, and be true to the total idea in every respect. We like to  say that each piece has integrity.

"The square, the triangle, and the circle are the three geometric shapes  that form three-dimensional cubes, pyramids, and spheres. Our entire  world may be broken down into these root geometries. These pure shapes,  combined with all their endless derivative shapes, are used as modules  throughout our designs. Doing this maintains artistic unity to each  pattern."
