Launched in 2012 by Michael Hawker, a Taliesin-trained architect and credentialed Organic and "green" conscious designer, his interests cover a range of topics sure to evoke your pondering, perhaps ripple a sound of logic into the eco realm.
Latin for "to weave," or "to construct," TEXERE is the personal portfolio for Michael Hawker The first edition began in 1990 as a bound booklet and envisioned using the metaphor of a 3D quilt, with layers, textures and patterns of creative and career work and meshing together to create a structured and complete whole. The parts of the quilt represent various facets of creative work or activity engaged. TEXERE is shown here on the website as a Series of categorized work. The bound volume is robust with graphic implements and structure.

TEXERE #1: Latest in Architectural Design/Concept Rendering - using Artificial Intelligence.
In 2025, Mr. Hawker embarked a journey to gain skills in artificial intelligence technologies and applications to assist with design ideating and concept rendering. Also included along the path of learning was learning Sketchup Pro and Revit 2025. Here are some explorations of this journey.
TEXERE #2: Architectural Designs Built and Unbuilt.
Architecture has been the principal career path for Mr. Hawker. This series of TEXERE focuses on those designs, some executed through construction, some unbuilt and remain but a design. Included here is a variety of projects, residential and commercial, and of varying sizes, from additions to remodels, to entire new buildings.
TEXERE #3: Art Glass Designs and Constructions.
Mr. Hawker inherited his grandfather's stained glass and tools and took a fundamentals class. He never looked back. In 1997, he had his first built commission. In 2004, due to demand, Michael established Zoetic Arts.
TEXERE #4: Construction and Craft Work.
Architects that embrace actual construction activity (not simply management) become better architects. The learning includes a better understanding of the nature of materials. Also, architects that perform tasks in the field learn issues contractors face in their work. Lastly, architects that engage in construction activities learn problem solving.
Since grade school and high school, Mr. Hawker has always been active in graphic arts, journalism, and page layout design. When he interned with Meridian Integrated Media, it was a blossoming of learned skills and insights into the visual, video, and audio arts. Mr. Hawker formalized his education between 2013-2015 by earning degrees in Graphic Design, Electronic Publishing, and Mass Communication with an emphasis in Journalism. This series will display a variety of work.
TEXERE #6: Construction Documents examples,
A major portion of the practice architecture is creating a set of instructions for contractors to build the architectural design conceived. These are packaged into sets of technical drawings and specifications that show floor plans, elevations, sections, and details. Due to size of drawings sets and the number of sheets often entailed, this Series will show a few examples.
TEXERE #7: A Design Retrospective (2022) for Taliesin Reunion, Taliesin Work.
This series shows a two-board retrospective of design work and career chronology. It explains a bit about TEXERE as a portfolio concept and a fun story explaining a key image from the college days of the portfolio. Also included are design and activities during Michael's apprenticeship in the Taliesin Fellowship.

Zoetic Architecture has romance, spirit, and soul.
Would that be "zoetry?"
The root word is "zoe", or Greek for "life."
Therefore, the word "zoetic" relates to life, living, and also implies a notion of movement or change. It could be as simple as light beams through a stained glass panel.
For us, Zoetic suggests evolving.
This is an architecture that may develop over time.
It is Organic, yet with enduring value.
Zoetic, therefore, is a Living Architecture and allows for evolvement.
Zoetic is a Natural, Organic, and Responsive approach to design.
